Not much has happend, seems like gardening, vw and other stuff is taking all my time. However I got the car back to bigger garage and started to assemble it little by little. I have ordered all the missing rubber and seals but haven't got them yet. I hope they get here before my summer holiday is over so I can get them installed.

Feel free to disagree but I like Fuchs on this car. I might try a different colour on them like bronze or dark gold but not before the car is running.

I finally got the car back from the paintshop. Quality is great, not showcar paint but that's not even what I wanted. I'll let the paint settle for a while in my home garage before moving it back to tyttölyseo garage. And first I have to prepare VW for the summer.  I'm quite sure I can't keep my hands off from the Datsun either as it is sitting right downstairs. I'll probably assemble doors, windows, dash etc before trailer ride...

I changed the turbo oil and water lines to braided teflon lines, much easier job when engine is out of the car. Being from China their quality was no suprise and I broke one hose end without even torquing it. Otherwise It was a nice kit and seems to do it's work better than twisted original hard lines.

I'll be using VW TSI coils as they have good reputation used on these engines. I was planning to use 034 Motorsport coils as with my VW but these coils are less than half the price and does not take so much room in the engine bay.

Car at the paintshop

Finally took the car to paintshop and it will be ready in two months. The trip took whole day and I also made a quick stop at Kari's Garege to pick up front fenders and other parts from soda blasting. There is still lot to do and my car will not be the first priority at the paintshop. First all the panels, doors, hood will be sandblasted to get rid of the surface rust we found when stripping the car to bare metal. Then there is still some welding to do, but hopefully not rust repairs anymore.

The only picture I got was from the front of our house before the camera's battery died. Next time the car will look completely different.

Rear hubs

In order to get the car on wheels I needed to assemble the rear suspension. I got the original hubs modified to 5x114.3 PCD and they turned out to be great. There was not enough space for 5x130 so I have to use adaptors. Does not really matter as I have to space the wheel out anyway by 25mm.

Sectioned rear strut with Tokico 5-way adjustable insert. I also added rear sway bar.

I'll leave the doors and hatch lid to be removed by painter.  He can also remove the glasses. I'm really happy to get the car off my hands for a while.

I decided that I will paint the car at this stage. First plan was to make it ready, drive it around for a while and then paint it. Now I have to prepare the car for paint shop in two weeks so I'll be quite busy with it now. Not bad as I kind of lost my motivation with it for a while but I suppose that with a fresh paint it'll look much better.

Engine and gerbox is already out,  weatherstrips removed, doors disassemled, windows are off except windshield and hatch window, interior stripped and sprayed with Noice Killer, etc. Still need to get it on wheels.

I did strip the car from original soundproofing and painted the floors and tunnel, sprayed it with Noice Killer. On top of that I used dynamat and foam mats. 

Dashboard

OK, not much but I got the dashboard off and changed speedometer.

It wasn't really easy to take the dash off, I hope I can get it back as well.

VDO 0-300mk/h speedo is propably a bit overkill, but nevermind.

I haven't touched the car for over a month now as the VW has taken all my free time. It's getting ready for the season and I hope to make some progress with the Datsun as well during the summer.

Looks like there is not that much to be done anymore.

Rear suspension going together. I'll use R180 diff as long as it lasts as I haven't found a stronger unit yet.

Fits like a glove...

Engine sits back and low. It is further back than the original engine and there is enough space for what ever I can think of in the in the engine bay.

Had to cut a small hole to get some more moving space.

Even the chiniese downpipe (or elbow or whatever) fits without issues.

Engine and transmission ready to go in. First I need to finish fuel lines but it shouldn't take long.
